One of the blessings in my life is having a husband who periodically travels for his work and when possible, invites me to go along. His last meeting was in Big Sky Montana, about 9 hours driving distance from home. Our journey took us through beautiful Montana scenery which included lakes and rivers, boulders, trees and meadows, and a small town called Ovando.
Ovando is not visible from the highway that runs past it. Had we not inquired of a good place to find breakfast when we fueled up our vehicle, we would have driven right by. The clerk working in the store at the fuel station however, enthusiastically recommended the Stray Bullet in Ovando just 14 miles up the road and 1/4 mile to the right. “Best homemade breakfast you can have” she reported, “only you don’t have to do the dishes”. Gotta say, I have to agree.
The restaurant was bustling when we arrived. It was bright and cheerful and you felt right at home when you walked in. There was alot of talking and laughing and hugging going on. The owner’s mother had hosted a 40 cousin family get together over the weekend. Everyone there seemed to be having a joyous time!
As I sat at the table waiting for my breakfast and watching the people in this wonderful place, the thought struck me; Jesus knows them, each one. He knows the man with the booming voice telling fishing stories. He deeply loves the older lady in the wheelchair who looked so very pleased to be there when she arrived. He cares for the young men and women who were hugging and shaking hands with the elders as they got reacquainted. He watches over those of us there having breakfast, even though we were not part of the reunion clan. Yes, He is intimately acquainted with the life of every person who was in that room, whether they know Him or not.
I left the Stray Bullet humbled by Our Loving God. There is absolutely no one who is unimportant to Him. There is no detail of our lives about which He doesn’t care.
How amazing it is to be loved by Jesus! No matter who or how or where you are, you can rest assured you are loved by God. Whether you feel close to Him or have strayed far away, nothing can separate you from His love.
Romans 8:38,39 (KJV) – For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, norpowers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Psalm 8:4 (KJV) – What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
1 John 4:19 (KJV) – We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:10 (KJV) – Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.
